When the outdoors comes indoors…
On the scale of inconveniences, having a wild animal get into your house has to be up towards the very top. There’s nothing more frustrating – and sometimes destructive – than when wildlife infiltrates the safety of home. I’m speaking from experience in this department, since I’ve had both a snake and a possum sneak into my house.
This couple had something a little bit more serious find its way into their home: a bear cub. As you’ll see in the video below, the little thing looks like a harmless fur ball, and often times bear cubs are. However, the danger usually lies in the fact that the presence of a cub usually means a mama bear is somewhere close.
The man and wife knew this, which is why they were trying to get the baby bruin out of their house as quickly as possible. You don’t want to get between a mother and her cub, and you certainly don’t want the place for that showdown to occur to be in your living room.
As the bear tried to climb out a closed window in the stairwell, both the man and the woman tried to coax it back down the stairs so it could exit, and it wasn’t going well:
“Come down. Come down. Shit.”
Eventually, they were able to encourage the little thing down the stairs, though it was still a far ways from the door to go back outside. And knowing that the real danger could be lurking nearby, you can hear the man tell his wife as he continues to guide the bear to the door:
“Watch for the mother.”
Finally, after one last bump into the glass by the bear cub, it found the open door and returned outside. It looks like the couple will only have a few scratches to buff out here and there to fix their home, and as for the bear cub, the Instagram user who posted this video provided an update:
“Many are asking news on the baby bear that entered our home. He was still in the neighborhood and visited our yard no sight of mamma bear. The baby bear was rescued and taken to a shelter… he will be fine!”
Fun fact: the home actually belongs to Rafaella De Laurentiis, an Italian film producer and aunt of the very famous chef and media personality, Giada De Laurentiis.
Looks like bears are a pretty regular occurrence at the De Laurentiis house:
