Today is the day that Post Malone‘s highly anticipated country music debut album, F-1 Trillion, dropped.

This crossover has been a LONG time coming, but just like any genre crossover, some folks are backing him 100%, and others are not a fan of him dipping his toe into country music. For those who are not a fan…do you not remember where Post Malone got his start? The Texans native has country running through his blood. His first gigs were performing country and classic rock covers at a local Italian restaurant in Grapevine, Texas.

Plus, Post Malone has always been open about wanting to return to the country industry one day.

Although he achieved fame in a different genre, Post Malone stuck to his word and released his debut country record at 29. I mean, it’s close enough to 30, right? And for those of us patiently waiting for this record, can you imagine waiting even longer?

Post Malone took his time getting comfortable in the country music space, making appearances with other established artists, covering the greats that have helped define the genre over the decades, and collaborating with some legends on this record, looping in major players in the industry. I believe Post Malone rolled into the country music space respectfully, letting people get settled with the idea before releasing singles.

And it worked. “I Had Some Help,” “Guy For That,” and “Pour Me A Drink” took off on the charts as soon as they were released. Today, as fans dive into the rest of the tracklist, which features a star-studded lineup of features like Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Hank Williams Jr., and more, the public is forming their opinions on the project.

While everyone is entitled to their thoughts (so take all this with a grain of salt), the internet’s first thoughts are overwhelmingly positive. Non-country music listeners are finding themselves getting down to a few tracks, and die-hard country fans are enjoying the collaborations and hearing some of their favorite artists in a new light. And while some are wishing it was a little more traditional, there’s a pretty heavy presence of pedal steel and fiddle on the record…. moreso than you’d find on a good chunk of pop country radio.

Like it or not, Post Malone is well on his way to a few number ones and making a little bit of history with this record. Check out some of the internet’s early thoughts on it.
