One of the young stars in the country music industry is temporarily stepping aside.

Ernest Keith Smith, who is just known as Ernest in the music industry (actually usually known as ERNEST in all caps), announced that he would be taking the next month off to “reset.” He cited in his social media post, which featured a picture of the country star holding his young son, that he wants to prioritize spending time with his family:

“Getting out and playing for you guys every night has been a dream. But running non-stop, I’m not gonna lie, it’s taken its toll on me. After getting back from London, it’s really hit me.

I’m going to be taking about a month off to reset and spend some time at home with my family. My son, Ryman is now at the age where every time I get home, he asks me if I’m leaving… and I just can’t stand hearing him ask for daddy through a phone call any more… I wanna spend quality time at home and pour into that reserve.”

Amen… you never get those moments back.

Prior to letting fans know he would be stepping out of the spotlight, Ernest was in the middle of touring as an opener with his good friend and fellow country star Morgan Wallen. This decision to take some time off means that Wallen will have to find someone else to fill in for Ernest, but luckily for him, he’s had plenty of big names willing to help with his One Night At A Time 2024 Tour.

As for Ernest, his one month hiatus comes at a good time, considering he’ll go on his own headlining tour starting in August. The “Legalize Country Music Road Show” kicks off August 8th at the Voices of America Country Music Festival, and the Nashville, Tennessee native alluded to the exciting things to come after his break in the last part of his message:

“I’m lucky to have a lot of incredible things coming up, and because of that I want to show up as my best self for my family and for you guys. We will be back on the road soon, and I can’t thank you all enough for the support – y’all be good.”
