Young Wolf Feels The Wrath Of A Squirrel Who Refuses To Go Down Without A Fight

It’s not the size of the squirrel in the fight, but rather the size of the fight in the squirrel.

In a battle between a small, bushy-tailed rodent and a fierce wolf, you’d have to think that the larger animal has the advantage. I doubt anyone would be taking the squirrel to come out victorious, though I’m sure if enough of them ganged up and fought together, a fight of many squirrels against one wolf could be a barn burner.

The squirrel in this remarkable trail camera footage might not have had any backup, but it did seem to tap into the fight of a thousand rodents that must have been trapped within it. This wolf should have been able to make short work of the squirrel. However, the feisty little creature pulled out all of the stops to try and stay alive – and did one hell of a job.

That meant busting out a painful nose bite, and scratching and clawing the ever-living daylights out of the canine anytime it attacked. We don’t know if the squirrel made it out alive following this encounter, but at the very least, it died a very valiant, warrior’s death.

And provided some spectacular, slow-motion moments on the trail camera:

Man… I was really rooting for that squirrel.

It appears as though all of social media was too. When the Voyageurs Wolf Project shared the video online, the reply section flooded with all kinds of quippy observations that were mostly in support of the squirrel:

And then we had my favorite comment, which was from someone who felt vindicated watching the squirrel give a wolf all it could handle:
