Actually, I’m not okay now…
Megan Moroney is gearing up to release her sophomore studio album Am I Okay? this Friday, and I am so excited for all of the new music she has coming.
Her debut Lucky was one of my favorites from last year, and I don’t think this new one will be any different. Meg has been working with writers like Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, who were co-producers alongside Kacey Musgraves on her 2015 Pageant Material album, one of my all-time favorite records… they’re kind of my dream team, so that’s an incredible place to start.
I hope we get to see a new, and maybe even deeper side of Meg, with Am I Okay?, because while Lucky was super fun and impressive in its own right, she’s such a strong writer and I think we have a lot more to learn about her in terms of her depth past all the blonde hair and makeup (which, obviously, I love too).
And I think that’s going to be the case, as Meg shared a spoiler of a song called “Heaven By Noon,” which finds her mourning the loss of someone very close to her, thinking she had all the time in the world with them when in reality they’re no longer walking the Earth.
She takes some semblance of respite knowing that they’re “walking streets of gold” in Heaven where there’s no time, heartbreak or pain anymore:
“I’m angry at the sky, none of this feels right,
Only God knows why, I wish I knew tonight
I know where you’re at,
And there ain’t no time at all,
no heartbreak, no more pain,
Just streets of gold you get to walk,
When I talked to you this morning,
I said I’ll see you soon,
Would’ve said so much more if I only knew
That you’d be in Heaven by noon”
I can already tell this will become a quick fan-favorite because of the sheer relatability aspect of the subject matter, and I’m excited to hear the whole thing:

Megan has released four songs from the 12-song tracklist, including “No Caller ID,” “28th Of June,” “Indifferent” and “Man On The Moon.”
