Tommy Prine’s debut project This Far South was one of the best albums of 2023, and there’s more where that came from.

In addition to the hard hitting and often emotional 11 tracks originally included on the album, Prine has revisited his initial project that turned so many heads to tack on a few reimagined versions of existing songs from the This Far South track list, including a version of “Boyhood” that features Tré Burt, as well as a brand new song in “Holding On To More.”

Here’s a quick look at the new song from This Far South (Deluxe).

“Holding On To More”

“By The Way – Piano Version”

“Boyhood” ft. Tré Burt

“Letter To My Brother – Deluxe Edition”

In case you somehow missed the initial release of This Far South, the album dropped nearly a year ago tot he date, on June 23, 2023, and served as an emphatic introduction to Prine’s captivating songwriting, especially considering the only releases in his catalog at that point were singles “Turning Stones” and the powerful ode to his father “Ships in the Harbor.”

Produced by Prine’s close friend, confidant, and frequent collaborator Ruston Kelly, who is an accomplished musician credited with a couple of co-writes on the record, and Nashville producer Gena Johnson, Prine had some impressive people behind the scenes that helped make This Far South become a reality.

Originally with 11 tracks, and now 15, Prine’s debut weaves seamlessly through sonically diversifying songs that manage to fit together cohesively in the grand scheme of his redemptive story and the coming of age revelations detailed in his lyrics. Devastated by his father’s April 2020 passing, as apparent in “By the Way,” and motivated by those in his corner, especially his wife Savannah, for whom the album’s last track “I Love You, Always” was written, Tommy Prine’s debut is an emotionally charged masterpiece that carries on the family’s legendary name with dignity yet provides an impressive cornerstone for Tommy to continue blazing his own trail musically.

And with his songwriting career off to a hot start, I can’t wait for more original music to come from Tommy Prine.
