So much for wild animals being more scared of us than we are of them.
If there’s one creature you don’t want to cross paths with out in nature, it’s the mountain lion. Big cats normally don’t interact with people, opting to instead keep to themselves and stay away from potential danger. But occasionally, these wild cats get brave and approach human beings.
This footage, taken inside Cimmaron Canyon State Park in New Mexico, is as concerning as it gets. Some campers had their site all set up (fire burning and all), and this prowling mountain lion didn’t even hesitate to walk right through. A wild animal wouldn’t normally put itself in that type of situation, but this mountain lion must have been built different (or something was wrong with it).
The Cimmaron Canyon campers couldn’t believe their eyes as the big cat walked by. One might suggest that they shouldn’t have been so calm and collected being that close to the dangerous creature, but there’s a good chance the mountain lion approached them and there wasn’t much they could do.
All they could do was stand tall, stay still (not running is definitely a good decision), and give this legendary vocal response to the close call:
“Holy sh*t balls.”
Am I going to add that curse word phrase into my vocabulary? You bet I am. Do I hope that I never find myself in this type of scary encounter? You bet I do. I’ll be honest – I’d probably be saying more than, “Holy sh*t balls” if I got this close to an animal that could easily claw my eyes out.
The video was posted with the caption:
“Wild camping trip… sorry for the cuss word!”
Hey… if you get that close to a mountain lion, all profanity usage is forgiven. At least in my opinion, and especially so if “Holy sh*t balls” is utilized. Can’t wait to use that when the time is right…
