Ray Wylie Hubbard Invited A Young Tyler Childers On Stage To Perform “Whitehouse Road” Way Back In 2013

Just a young kid from Kentucky, trying to chase a dream.

Way back in 2013, there was man named Ray Wylie Hubbard (maybe you’ve heard of him) playing a gig at a place called Willie’s Locally Known in Lexington, Kentucky. Ray Wylie was doing his thing, but at some point during the middle of his set, Ray Wylie invited some red-haired local kid up to play a song. It was a little head-turner called “Whitehouse Road.”

And while Ray Wylie’s drummer seemed to be pretty unfamiliar with the song, it seems like Tyler still left quite and impact. Of course, it’s impossible to know exactly how his performance was received unless you were there over a decade ago, but one of the comments I was able to dig up pretty much tells you all you need to know.

“Ray Wylie Hubbard was amazing, who was the young Tyler guy that played one song?”

And another said after the fact:

“How come this guy isn’t a star! Smokes 90% of mainstream music.”

That young Tyler guy smokin’ 90% of mainstream music was Tyler Childers… and these days, he’s smokin’ 100% of mainstream music.

Pretty damn cool, eh?

Tyler Childers Announces ‘Mule Pull ’24 Tour’

Tyler Childers is gonna have a busy summer

He previously announced his Mull Pull ’24 Tour, which will feature some of his biggest shows yet with arena stops in Texas, Alabama and Tennessee at Nashville’s Bridgestone arena and a multitude of other cities, as well as European dates, all of which are already sold out.

And then he followed it up with even more. He later announced even more shows which will take place at Chicago’s United Center, Boulder’s Folsom Field, Washington State’s Gorge Amphitheatre, Alpharetta’s Ameris Bank Amphitheatre (two nights), Tampa’s MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre, Vancouver’s Rogers Arena and Calgary’s Scotiabank Saddledome if you’re still hoping to catch him live in concert next year.

Tyler is also bringing along an impressive supporting cast to open different dates, including 49 Winchester, John R Miller, Allison Russell, Hayes Carll, Medium Build, Sylvan Esso and more.

Of course, the Kentucky native released his Rustin’ In The Rain album this past September, so you’re sure to hear all of those awesome new songs, in addition to tried and true favorites like “Nose On The Grindstone,” “Lady May,” and more.

If you can manage to get tickets, it’s certainly a show you don’t want to miss, and you can see all of the newly-added dates below.
