Who cares if you caught any fish when you get to witness something as beautiful as this?

Killer whales haven’t been viewed in a great light as of late, in case you didn’t know. Though there has still never been a confirmed case of a wild orca attacking and killing a human being and killing them, there have been plenty of scary encounters over the past couple of years.

With the increased amount of killer whale attacks on boats recently, it even got to the point where sailors were trying to blast heavy metal music underwater in an effort to keep orcas from bumping up against their vessels. I don’t want to spoil too much, though I will say that their plan didn’t go down how they thought it would.

Most of those attacks are due to the extreme territorial nature of killer whales, which can often lead them to be aggressive towards anything that they deem a threat. When they aren’t terrorizing boats or eating great white sharks whole, they generally like to have a good time. That’s what shown in this clip below that was captured by some Alaskan fishermen.

The video of the pod of orca whales majestically breaching the water surrounding the fishing boat can only be described as mesmerizing. Seeing a creature of that size effortlessly shoot out of the water, temporarily fly through the air, and then splash back down simply does not get old. That’s why you’ll hear one of the men in the boat ask the one filming if he “got that” over and over again.

That’s obviously a funny bit inside the footage, but the quote that really steals the show is when one of the fishermen in the boat screams out “GAWD ALMIGHTY” as one of the massive killer whales sailed out of the water and into the air. If you take anything away from this video, just make sure it’s to enjoy life as much as this guy (off camera) enjoys seeing these orcas in action.

Take a look:

Unbelievable.

Was that a once-in-a-lifetime experience? You bet it was. Were those orcas a little too close for comfort at points of the interaction, considering a killer whale could easily bring down a boat of that size? Without a doubt. Regardless, the two Alaskan fishermen in the boat were ecstatic watching the orcas do their thing, and it looks like the comment section underneath the post did too:

“Absolutely majestically INCREDIBLE!!! What a once in a lifetime experience.”

“Alaska is a magical place.”

“That country ‘GAAAAHD ALMIGHTY’ was great.”

“They were excited to have an audience.”

“That is incredible…. and also slightly terrifying.”
