Who is cutting onions?
Zach Bryan can evoke a lot of different feelings with his songwriting. Not everyone can craft a poignant, sad country/folk song, but that doesn’t seem to be an issue for Bryan. He can crank out tear-duct-inducing tracks like nobody’s business.
Our first taste of the country star’s forthcoming album The Great American Bar Scene was released earlier today, and though it has only been out for a matter of hours, it’s already acted as an emotional wrecking ball. The topic of grief and loss usually strikes a chord in some way or another for the average person, and “Pink Skies” takes a hard look at the grieving process.
Just reading through some of the lyrics of the song likely proves to be difficult for those that have suffered a great loss of a friend or loved one:
“If you could see ’em now, you’d be proud
But you’d think they’s yuppies
Your funeral was beautiful
I bet God heard you comin’
The kids are in town for a funeral
So pack the car and dry your eyes
I know they got plenty of young blood left in ’em
And plenty nights under pink skies
You taught ’em to enjoy.”
I mean… come on Zach Bryan. You’ve got us wiping away tears heading into Memorial Day weekend.
Needless to say, the song has received an uberly positive response on social media. If his plan was to dig deep into the souls of those who have lost important people in their life, Zach Bryan nailed it. Everyone on social media has praised the song for its touching message and heartrending relatability:
Pink Skies out now!!
Certified tear jerker, hope y’all enjoy it as much as I am, goodnight

Nice to see that everyone is curled up in the fetal position listening to the song as well (or is that just me?).
Zach Bryan has certainly done it again, and if this first single is any indication of what’s to come for The Great American Bar Scene, we better prepare ourselves for one hell of an album. Even Bryan himself has stated that its the “proudest he’s ever been” of a project.
If you don’t have a tissue box nearby, you better go get one before you press play:
