It doesn’t hurt to have a signature look, and it really doesn’t hurt when that signature look is rather easy and comfortable to pull off.

Luke Combs may not have planned it out, but he made his country music star life a breeze by breaking onto the scene wearing a fishing shirt and sticking with it. Specifically, a black Columbia PFG shirt, which he actually sells on his merchandise shop.

I bet you’ve never really thought about that, but picture it for a moment if you will. If Luke Combs is performing, he’s probably wearing a black fishing shirt, and that’s not by mistake. At this point, that’s the way people expect to see Combs, so he’s leaned into the style and made the PFG shirt synonymous with his career.

That was brought up when Combs sat down for an interview on The Bobby Bones Show. The topic of his signature look was brought up, and a question was posed about whether or not he’d prefer to wear something else on stage.

Bones brought up that he had talked to Jimmy Buffett before (RIP) and the “happy hour music” artist liked to wear normal clothes, but always got decked out in the Hawaiian shirt and flip flops for shows. Combs was asked if felt that way too, or if he ever wanted to dress up more for performances, and he responded with this:

“I just feel like I’d be really uncomfortable doing that. I’ve worn hoodies before. That’s like, ‘Woah I’m really stepping outside my comfort zone here.’

It was almost Met Gala-esque for me to come out in the hoodie.”

Hey, I can relate to “wearing a hoodie” being a form of dressing up (work from home people get it).

Bobby Bones then asked if it had turned into a “Steve Jobs thing,” since the innovative mind behind Apple always wore the same thing everyday. Luke Combs, often referred to as the Steve Jobs of country music, said that inadvertently became the motive:

“That was kind of the idea. I don’t have to think about it. And I mean it worked. No one has ever been like, ‘Man I wish this guy would wear a different shirt.'”

Well there you have it. There’s
