He’s BACK.
We now know what that countdown on is website was for, as Sturgill Simpson is slated to headline the 2024 Outside Lands Festival, taking the stage for what will be his first full live show in three years:
Yes, it’s really true… you can catch Stu, along with fellow country artists Charley Crockett and Paul Cauthen, in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, California this summer. In addition, Post Malone will perform a special country set, which I imagine will be similar to what he’s doing at Stagecoach this weekend (and hopefully includes some new originals, too).
The festival, in its 16th year, is slated for on August 9th through 11th, and features a diverse lineup with other headliners in Tyler, The Creator and The Killers:
Allen Scott, Co-Founder of Outside Lands and Head of Concerts & Festivals at Another Planet Entertainment, says that they strive to cover a diverse range of genres and generations, which I think is apparent by the headliners alone.
And whoever got Sturgill on board as a headliner deserves a raise:
“Every year we start with a blank canvas and because of the diverse and sophisticated palette of Bay Area music fans, we get to program a festival that is not only multigenerational but shows an incredible range of genres and musical subcultures.”
Tickets for the festival go on sale to the general public tomorrow, April 24th, and I have a feeling they’ll go pretty quickly as plenty of Sturgill fans will be making the trek to California just to see him. A worthy venture, indeed.
Other artists performing throughout the weekend include The Postal Service, Grace Jones, KAYTRANADA, JUNGLE, Snoh Aalegra, Gryffin, Young The Giant, ScHoolboy Q, Chappell Roan, Reneé Rapp, Victoria Monét, The Last Dinner Party and many more.
And I know this is probably not going to happen… but we need Posty and Sturgill on stage together. This doesn’t get old:
