The Intimidator vs. Rowdy.
NASCAR is returning to the bullring at Bristol this weekend, and a question from NASCAR on NBC has fans in a heated debate about two of the best Cup Series drivers of all time at the World’s Fastest Half Mile.
NBC asked fans who would win in a ten-lap shootout with both drivers in their prime: Dale Earnhardt or Kyle Busch.
Both drivers are indisputably among the best at Bristol Motor Speedway. During his career, Dale Earnhardt racked up 9 Cup Series wins, second all-time at Bristol behind Darrell Waltrip (and tied with Rusty Wallace and Cale Yarborough). And the Man In Black was never afraid to lay the bumper to his competitors to get around them.
I mean, we all remember this iconic finish, right?
And Kyle Busch is one of the best modern-day racers at Bristol, with 8 wins at the track so far during his career, just one behind Earnhardt.
So if both drivers were in their prime, who would win?
Honestly, after I saw the post, I thought Earnhardt would easily run away with it. No disrespect to Kyle Busch, but Earnhardt was just on another level, and while he was aggressive, he had the skill he needed to make it to the finish.
But after taking a look at the comments, it seems like NASCAR fans are pretty evenly divided:
Dale with the cage rattle at the line.

Kyle Busch 10/10 times

Dale! I like both but Sr. Had a lot of knowledge on how to get the job done , that many new guys didn’t get a chance to pickup on! Them guys of that time could race a pickup truck and be happy and now it’s all about making the car race the track and driver just help!

Kyle would be crying too much to finish

Of course the real winner of this battle would be the fans who got to watch it all unfold.
But Kyle Busch himself weighed in on the debate, and I think he’s right:
