Morgan Wallen is teasing new music.

During a pop-up surprise performance for iHeartRadio at SoHo House in Nashville, Morgan was joined on stage by friends and frequent collaborators Ernest and Hardy, where they delivered an acoustic set for radio programmers.

It’s certainly a change to hear the three of them fully-acoustic, but I’m not mad at it one bit, and as y’all probably know by now, it’s usually my preference to hear an artist sing their own song in its purest form.

Not only did the label-mates run through some of their own hits, as well as songs they’ve done together, but Morgan actually debuted a new unreleased song that remains nameless for the time being. And of course, it’s probably going to sound different once it gets the full studio treatment, but from the first few listens, it sounds pretty solid.

He touches on heartbreak and how the “90 proof is telling me lies, lies lies,” as he begs the girl to stay telling her there’s “nothing I wouldn’t do for you.” It’s unclear who the writers are for this one, but if Morgan does decide to cut it (and I’m assuming he already has or plans to since he sang it here), I really hope they keep a similar production.

When he does these sad, drown-your-sorrows kinds of country songs right, they’re really good (see: his feature on “Flower Shops”), and obviously everything he touches right now turns into a hit, so I don’t see why this will be any different if and when the time comes.
