When RC gets on the radio, you know it’s serious.

The 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season is finally here. We’re over halfway through the Daytona 500 so far, and at the end of the second stage, Kyle Busch had his #8 Chevrolet in 4th place as the field came to pit road.

But it didn’t last long…

The Richard Childress Racing team had a costly mistake on the pit stop when the front tire changer was slow getting the wheel on, and the jackman dropped the jack before the tire was secure.

Well Busch did what he was supposed to do, and took off as soon as the jack dropped – but the wheel wasn’t on, and Busch was forced to nurse his car back around to pit road to get a new Goodyear rubber without damaging his car and ruining his day in the process.

Luckily Busch was able to make it safely back to the pits for new tires, and was able to rejoin the race in the back of the pack when the green flag finally dropped.

But the crew got a nice little a*s-chewing from the boss after their costly mistake.

Team owner Richard Childress hopped on the radio to pass a message along to the pit crew:

That should put the fear into the pit crew…

They’ll have at least one more shot to get it right before the race is over, and Kyle Busch is still far from out of the race. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
