The Kansas City Chiefs’ offense was sputtering early on in Super Bowl LVIII against the San Francisco 49ers. A surprisingly conservative game plan saw superstar tight end and one half of America’s power couple Travis Kelce get only one catch for one yard through three possessions.
Kelce plays with a lot of raw emotion, and it boiled over on the sidelines right after, to my knowledge, Isiah Pacheco fumbled the ball away deep in the red zone.

Apparently Kelce wasn’t on the field for that play. Patrick Mahomes had just thrown a bomb to Mecole Hardman to set the Chiefs up for a potential go-ahead touchdown. I can only assume Kelce was frustrated by his lack of usage and the fact that head coach Andy Reid didn’t let the passing game keep rolling after the huge gain.

Taylor Swift is in attendance for the Big Game, and her presence definitely hasn’t hurt the exposure for Super Bowl LVIII, nor has Swift hindered Kelce’s abilities as a player, contrary to what some believe
It’d be a bummer if she flew all the way from her massive concert in Tokyo, only to see her significant other be an afterthought in the Chiefs’ game plan. Maybe the 49ers defense deserves credit for containing Kelce to this point. In any event, he seems to always find a way to get open. Kansas City will really need to go back to the drawing board at halftime, or Reid just needs to let the Mahomes-Kelce connection cook, for better or worse, with all the marbles on the line.
We’ll see how everything unfolds. Hopefully this Kelce blow-up is something he and Reid can put behind them so that they can band together and try to win their third Lombardi Trophy together.
Either way… the Taylor Swift commentary is solid gold. Overdramatic Swifties fearing for her safety, and trolls jumping on board too… gotta love the internet.
