Last year, Netflix debuted their incredibly successful comedy festival, Netflix is a Joke Fest.
The multi-day festival easily became the biggest comedy festival in North America, selling a whopping 260,000 tickets during 295 shows. With that being said, Netflix is back at it again, as they’ve announced year two of the Netflix is a Joke Fest.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix is a Joke Fest will be held May 2nd to May 12th with more than 300 shows across 35-Los Angeles based venues.
Not to mention, they have a killer lineup so far, featuring the likes of Chris Rock, Ali Wong, John Mulaney, Chelsea Handler, Bert Kreisher, Jon Stewart, David Letterman, Tom Segura, and Matt Rife.
Robbie Praw, Netflix’s VP of stand-up comedy formats, said in a statement:
“This is a special time for comedy, both for Netflix and the genre at large. We have the privilege of working with comedians who are selling out arenas, winning awards and building fandoms in the millions.
In the 10 years that we’ve been doing stand-up we’ve seen the art form reach levels we didn’t think possible.
This festival aims to capture this moment by bringing together the world’s best comedians for an unforgettable 11 days.”
One of the venues is the Hollywood Bowl, where the heavy hitters like Trevor Noah, Kevin Hart, Bill Burr, Jerry Seinfeld, John Mulaney, and Matt Rife are set to perform. The venue will also have a ladies night featuring Taylor Tomlinson, Sarah Silverman, Nikki Glaser, and Michelle Buteau.
However, perhaps the most exciting news is what will be going down at The Forum. Netflix is set to host and record what they’re dubbing the G.R.O.A.T, for “Greatest Roast of All Time,” where Tom Brady will make an appearance to be the punchline of all the jokes from Jeff Ross, along with “famous friends and frenemies” of Brady’s.
I mean c’mon. Just to watch Brady get lit up like a Christmas tree by all of his friends and enemies is worth being in attendance for.
