This is certainly going to be interesting.

And probably the only part of the CMA Awards I’ll be tuning in for, honestly…

Yesterday, they announced the second round of performers for the show, which includes a tribute to the late, great Jimmy Buffet by Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Mac McAnally and Zac Brown Band, in addition to performances by Ashley McBryde, Cody Johnson, The War & Treaty, Dan and Shay and Jordan Davis, as well.

But the name that immediately caught my attention on the list is mega star Post Malone, who was announced as part of a trio including Morgan Wallen and HARDY.

According to Rolling Stone, the trio is slated to perform a “medley of country classics.”

Posty is just so damn good at doing country by himself, and I feel like he should’ve been given the reigns to get up there and sing whatever country song he wanted to without any help, but at the very least, it makes me excited that he’s into dipping his toes in the genre like this, so to speak.

He has hinted at doing a full-blown country album before, and I do think it will happen one day, but can you imagine if they let him get up there and just belt out a Colter Wall or Tyler Childers song?

A girl can dream, I guess…

I’m also intrigued to find out what “country classics” they’ve selected for this medley, and I really wouldn’t be surprised to see Post Malone collaborate with Morgan especially one day down the road.

They’re two of the biggest names in the music industry, and from a business standpoint alone, would certainly make a lot of sense for both of them.

Anywho, I’ll leave you with these all-time great covers, which I really hope we get more of Posty doing (solo) in the future:

“You Can Have The Crown”

“I’m Gonna Miss Her”

The 57th Annual CMA Awards will once again be hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning as the ceremony broadcasts live from Nashville Wednesday, November 8th.
