Already showing up to the ceremonies a winner.

The 57th Annual CMA Awards are tonight, live from Bridgestone Arena here in Nashville. Lainey Wilson led the pack with 9 nomination, followed by Jelly Roll with five and Luke Combs and HARDY at four each.

While we won’t know who takes home the top prizes until tonight, the CMAs announced a couple of the winners this morning on Good Morning America – and HARDY and Lainey Wilson are already cleaning up.

Their duet, “wait in the truck,” took home the awards for both Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year, providing HARDY with his first ever CMA Award win.

The nominees for Musical Event of the Year included “Save Me” by Jelly Roll (and also featuring Lainey Wilson, who doubled up in the category), “She Had Me At Heads Carolina” from Cole Swindell and Jo Dee Messina, “Thank God” by Kane Brown with Katelyn Brown, and “We Don’t Fight Anymore” by Carly Pearce featuring Chris Stapleton.

For Music Video of the Year, the nominees were “Light On In The Kitchen” from Ashley McBryde, “Memory Lane” by Old Dominion, “Need A Favor” by Jelly Roll, and “Next Thing You Know” by Jordan Davis.

Both HARDY and Lainey will be performing tonight, with HARDY joining Post Malone and Morgan Wallen for a tribute to “country classics” that already has my attention, and Lainey performing her own song “Wildflowers and Wild Horses.”

But they can both breathe a little easier this evening knowing they’ve already got some hardware for their trophy case before the show even starts.

The 2023 CMA Awards will be on ABC tonight, November 8 at 8/7c, live from Bridgestone Arena. But of course if you want the best coverage, you can follow along on our Twitter (or X, or whatever account it’s called now) as we live-tweet our thoughts.

Because let’s be honest, that will probably be more entertaining than the actual show.
