Pretty clear how much love these two still have for each other.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo both opened up on their separation for the first time last night, 4 days after it was revealed that the “Save Me” singer had filed for divorce back on May 18 in Williamson County, just outside of Nashville.
Whiskey Riff obtained a copy of the divorce complaint that was filed by the “Save Me” singer, and even from the complaint it appears that the separation is largely amicable.
The documents reveal that the couple separated on May 9, a week and a half before the request for a divorce was filed. Jelly Roll cites “irreconcilable differences” as the grounds for the divorce, which in Tennessee is a no-fault grounds for divorce that means that the parties agree on the terms of the separation. And he also requested that Bunnie not be required to file an answer, indicating that the couple planned to reach a Marital Dissolution Agreement to resolve the divorce.
Well last night both Bunnie and Jelly spoke on the divorce for the first time, her in an episode of her Dumb Blonde Podcast and him during a show in New York. And from both of their statements, it’s clear just how much they still care for each other.
Jelly Roll told the crowd at his show that Bunnie Xo is still his “best friend.”
“Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it, you can go watch it, every word of it is the truth.
That will be my best friend forever. This is the only time I will ever speak about it.
Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years, they were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship, and 20 beyond that.”
And Bunnie revealed that the two still planned to have a baby together – despite the divorce:
“That’s my f—ing best friend, dude. I love him. And you guys are going to be shocked to hear this, but we’re still having a baby. We’re still having a baby together. …
We’re going to co-parent together. J is my best friend. This isn’t what you guys think it is.”
The couple have been open in the past about the struggles they faced at the beginning of their relationship, when Bunnie was serving as a high-end escort in Las Vegas and her and Jelly roll were living in a van together. Obviously things have changed a lot since then, and they’re both incredibly successful with their own ventures. But Bunnie believes things would have turned out very differently if they had never met:
“You go from being a drug dealer and a girl who worked in the streets to who we are now. …
I really truly feel that had I not got with my husband, that I would be dead from an abusive relationship or doing drugs or getting caught up in a hotel room with a trick who was pissed off I was trying to steal his money.
I truly feel that my husband saved me from that.”
Of course Bunnie acknowledges that the relationship was also a positive for Jelly Roll:
“Yes, we saved each other and we put each other on the path that we did together, but he was a catalyst for me becoming the woman that I am today. …
And without him, I would not be where I am. And I stand on that. I truly feel that my husband would not be the man he is today without me.”
Sounds like they’re both in a good place as they head into this next phase of their lives.
