If you told middle school me this would be on Dolly Parton‘s forthcoming album, I would have laughed out loud.

But let’s look at the facts here, folks. Miley Cyrus is Dolly’s Godmother and the two share an extremely close relationship, so it only makes sense to highlight her on Parton’s upcoming rock album.

However, I would have thought Parton would have leaned more into Cyrus’ ability to belt out some classic rock songs. I mean, have y’all seen the videos of her covering Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog?”

However, given that “Wrecking Ball” is an iconic song out of Cyrus’ discography, this reimagination of this 2013 hit track as well. Wonder if Parton will swing on the wrecking ball that caused a pop culture commotion like Cyrus did…

Parton opens up the track with haunting vocals, singing the opening words:

“We clawed, we chained, our hearts in vainWe jumped, never asking whyWe kissed, I fell under your spellA love no one could deny…”

Cyrus comes in right before the chorus for some stunning harmonies. After the first chorus, the rock aspect of the track kicks in.

The heavy guitar riffs and classic rock and roll elements give this song a new light, giving the initially pop track an ’80s hair metal feel.

In the track, they tie in one of Dolly’s hits, closing out the song with a line from “I Will Always Love You.”

Rock Star will be out everywhere on November 17th. You can check out the full tracklist below.
