The Steel Woods simply do not miss.

The southern rock outfit is gearing up to release their new record On Your Time, the first project they’ve put out since tragically losing founding member Jason “Rowdy” Cope.

And a few weeks ago, they released a single called “The Man From Everywhere,” which perfectly encapsulates their sound, and frontman Wes Bayliss says has an interesting back story:

“It’s a song loosely based on the story of Uncle Lloyd as a prequel to the Darrel Scott song we cut on our first record.

It’s written from the perspective of a man who just can’t seem to get things right, hinting that his drinking and gambling addictions are the reason he’s abandoned every good thing he’s ever had going for him.”

The single gives the character of “Uncle Lloyd” from their 2017 album Straw In The Wind a loose backstory and how he came to be:

“This is one I wrote with Connie Rae Harrington after spending what seemed like hours listening to the other songs and plans I had for this record.

That day was definitely a turning point for me and my confidence as a writer, realizing this crazy idea I had could actually be great.”

And today, we’re pleased to premiere their new live perfomance video for “The Man From Everywhere,” which was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bayliss says he and his late friend Jason recorded the very first tracks for The Steel Woods in Blackbird Studio D in 2015, so it was a very fitting and nostalgic place to film this video seeing as On Your Time will be their first release since he passed away in 2021:

“Jason and I recorded the first tracks for The Steel Woods in Blackbird Studio D back in 2015.

Blackbird has been the home for records by Chris Stapleton, Kings of Leon and Miranda Lambert to name a small few.

We wanted to give fans a sneak peek at the magic that exists inside these walls, and we are excited to release the first of four videos tomorrow – ‘The Man From Everywhere’ Live from Blackbird.”

In addition to this one, The Steel Woods have three more live performance videos from the Blackbird coming soon including “Cut The Grass,” “Devil in this Holler” and “Border Lord” dropping over the next several weeks.

It’s super badass in terms of the production and vocals, so make sure you check it out and stay tuned for more…

On Your Time is due out everywhere next Friday on October 6th.
