I need about a thousand more covers of Kacey Musgraves sinin’ Dolly Parton.

One of her musical heroes, Kacey often cites Dolly as a massive inspiration in her musical taste and career, and I’m still waiting for the day that these two collab because it’s well past a need at this point.

And while I’ll continue holding my breathe fro that, every now and then, Kacey will honor Mrs. Dolly with a cover of one of her big hits, which includes a great one she did last year of “9 to 5.”

But back in 2014 across the pond during a show at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London, Kacey tipped her cap to the Queen of Country with a gorgeous rendition of “Here You Come Again.”

The song was written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil and released as a single in 1977. It was of course also the title track for Parton’s album of the same name and topped the US country singles chart for five weeks.

It won the 1978 Grammy award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and peaked at #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking Dolly’s first big pop crossover hit.

And while this performance is from almost 10 years ago, before Kacey even released one of my all-time favorite albums Pageant Material, it makes me miss this era of her career and how incredibly brazen and unapologetically country she was.

Don’t get me wrong, a few of the songs on her most recent 2021 record Star-Crossed have grown on me (“Justified” is a total jam), but those early albums just hit so incredibly different and I love revisiting footage from that time.

Definitely check this one out… I would love to get a studio version of this cover one day. She did Dolly proud here:
