Here at Whiskey Riff, we love to cover country music and stories about the outdoors, and this is one of those that actually stretches into both.

Koe Wetzel, known for his rocking country music and being a certified badass, is no stranger to the state of Texas. The singer songwriter is from Pittsburg, Texas, which is around a 9 hour drive (depending on how many Buc-ee’s you stop at along the way) from where he bagged and tagged this bull elk.

Many credit Koe for being one of the few artists keeping the outlaw country genre alive in the modern day music world., although you’d probably describe his music is more alternative rock.

I can’t tell what’s bigger: Koe Wetzel’s future in the music industry, or this humongous behemoth of a bull elk that he took down. Just look at the size of this thing, which is undoubtedly a full grown adult male elk.

And if that’s the case, we know that on average, bull elk stand to be around 5 feet tall and can weigh upwards of 1,100 pounds. I’m interested in knowing just how much the rack of this monstrous elk would weigh in at.

Koe appears to be having no trouble holding it up, but then again, that’s Koe Wetzel we’re talking about here. If his strength or toughness is in question, just scroll over to the last picture of the Instagram post to see a still shot of the country star picking up what looks to be a rattlesnake.

All in all, it seems like it was a rather memorable hunting trip for Koe, and a successful one at that. We’re all happy for him, and we hope that he can spin the experience into another one of his patented country rock songs.

Wetzel took to Instagram to share his kill, captioning the series of pictures with:

“I finally got the opportunity to take my first free range Texas bull and the trip did not disappoint!

I cannot thank the CF Ranch enough for the hospitality and all the memories that were made.

What an incredible bull and story that will last a lifetime!”
