Last night was one heck of a way to kick off the official start of the NFL regular season, as the Detroit Lions squared off against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.

It was a tight one all game, but the Lions ultimately came out on top with an impressive 21-20 victory over last year’s Super Bowl champs.

Needless to say, the Lions proved last night that they’re a force to be reckoned with, and are a serious playoff contender after being a bottom feeder in the league for the past 20 years or so.

Even though a ton of credit goes to the Lions’ impressive performance on the road in one of the most hostile environments in all of the NFL, the Chiefs made a ton of self-inflicted errors themselves that cost them the win…

And when I say the “Chiefs,” I’m basically talking about wide receiver Kadarius Toney.

With the Chiefs up 14-7 in the third quarter, Patrick Mahomes threw a perfect pass to Toney that hit him right in the hands.

Any NFL wide receiver makes this catch, but it slipped right through Toney’s hands and right to a Lions defender, and he took it to the house for a pick six, tying the game up at 14 all.

On top of that, Toney had a number of other costly drops, including one late in the game that hit him right in the numbers while he was wide open, and would’ve set the Chiefs up for a chance to take the lead.

I’ve watched a lot of football in my life, but I can honestly say it was one of the worst wide receiver performances I’ve ever witnessed.

During the game, people took to Twitter to mercilessly mock Toney for the less-than-stellar performance:

And if you think Toney isn’t feeling the heat, think again, because the man has deleted his Twitter/X and gone off the grid.

Of course, I’d probably do the same if I was him, because he probably had every Chiefs fan in his mentions and DMs saying he needs to be cut.

If he’s still on the team by next Sunday, hopefully he can bounce back.
