Talk about some nostalgia.

Mark Wills had a huge hit with his 2002 single “19 Somethin’,” a song about reminiscing on the world that you grew up in as a child.

The original song contains references to the ’70s and ’80s, mentioning events like the passing of Elvis Presley and the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, along with fond memories of playing with Stretch Armstrong and collecting baseball cards.

Of course, you all know the original song by now.

But now that the song’s over 20 years old, a whole new generation has grown up in a different world than the one in the original song.

And singer and songwriter Eric Sharp has updated the classic for the ’90s kids.

This one changes things up, mentioning memories like seeing Jurassic Park in theaters, listening to the Backstreet Boys on your Walkman, the Y2K panic, and instead of Evel Knievel scars, this time they’re Johnny Knoxville scars for all of us who grew up watching (and imitating) the stunts we saw on Jackass.

Oh, and of course there are also references to the death of Dale Earnhardt and the September 11th attacks, which anybody who grew up in the ’90s will vividly remember.

“I saw Jurassic Park at least eight times
Had Solitaire on my hard drive
Backstreet Boys on that bus ride
On my Coby Walkman
I was Brett Favre in my backyard
Had a shoebox full of Hot Wheel cars
And a couple of Johnny Knoxville scars
On my right arm
I was a kid when Earnhardt died
And my grandpa cried”

And the updated chorus features references to ’90s icon Uncle Jesse from Full House (because who didn’t want to be as cool as he was in the ’90s), as well as the Jordan craze that swept the country:

“It was 1990-somethin’, in the world that I grew up in
Uncle Jesse hairdo days
Jordan Nikes and cassette tapes
Looking back now I can see me
Oh man did I look cheesy
But I wouldn’t trade those days for nothin’
Oh it was 1990-somethin'”

You’ll have to check out the full song to catch all of the other ’90s and early-2000s references that he makes in the song, but he nails it with this line:

“My first love was Stifler’s mom in that pool room scene”

Find me a ’90s boy who couldn’t relate to that.

I think we need a studio version of this one for all of us ’90s kids out there.
