Megan Moroney Goes Acoustic With “Tennessee Orange,” “I’m Not Pretty” & More

Megan Moroney keeps her Lucky roll going with a phenomenal acoustic session for CMT’s Campfire Sessions.

While the campfire sessions are typically in a nature-filled setting, the production crew made some quick changes to host the session inside due to the weather.

And while this is not the norm for CMT, I almost love the feel of the inside log cabin setting. The viewer feels like they are sitting inside with Moroney while she sings a few of her acoustic hits.

The emo cowgirl sang four of her biggest tracks off her debut album, including “I’m Not Pretty,” which Moroney recently announced will go to radio country as a single.

Moroney introduces the upbeat track:

“Long story short, my ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend liked one of my old Instagram photos from 2016. You can go find it on my Instagram.

And instead of being weird about it, I just wrote this song.”

She then goes into “Sleep On My Side,” giving similar reasoning as to the inspiration behind the song.

“This is the funniest song I’ve ever written… It’s basically about how I was dating this guy. He was dating me and a bunch of other girls.

Instead of keying his car and doing anything irrational. I just blocked him and wrote this.”

The catchy lyrics give whoever this suitor is a good Southern bell-style jab. Moroney’s vocals on this track sound incredible as her band supports her with percussion and an acoustic.

She then slows things down with “Girl In The Mirror” before finishing it off with her mega-hit “Tennessee Orange.”

Moroney proves time and time again that she can walk to the walk with her acoustic sessions. Her vocals are always spot on, and her songwriting is reminiscent of a young Taylor Swift with the way she can creatively putting her feelings into words. Relatable, captivating and catchy… a triple threat.
