Packers RB & Certified Multi-Sport Athlete, Aaron Jones, Qualifies For American Cornhole League Championship

Aaron Jones
American Cornhole League

Tell me something that professional football player Aaron Jones can’t do. I’ll wait…

I’ll tell you a couple of things he’s really good at: being an all-pro NFL running back and throwing beanbags into holes cut into slightly propped up wooden boards. And if I wasn’t making myself clear there, I’m saying that the man is world class in both football and cornhole.

Aaron Jones was drafted by the Green Bay Packers back in 2017, and I’m sure since then, he’s dreamed of winning the Super Bowl.

Every person who has ever played the sport gets caught daydreaming about bringing home the Lombardi, and though the American Cornhole League Championship might not be as sought after, I’m sure Jones has his eyes set on that prize as well.

Jones and his cornhole partner Yetty Irwan won a qualifier this past weekend, officially sending the talented tossers to the Cornhole World Championships, which take place in Rock Hill, South Carolina on August 4th.

How is it that the Packers running back has the time to be the best in the world at two different things? I’m barely good at one thing (if I am at all), so I can’t imagine being at the top of two different sports.

And don’t you dare say that cornhole isn’t a sport, because it most certainly is. Football and “bags” actually have a lot in common if you think about it.

One pits the best athletes in the world against each other in an electric back-and-forth competition of offense and defense in a fashion that makes it one the world’s favorite things to watch and participate in, and the other is football. Pretty similar if you ask me…

And I have to say, I’m not sure who is the more impressive athlete of the pair. Yetty Irwan sure knows how to throw a bag. Just take a look at this clutch shot she pulled off to take home the Women’s Singles title.

The video’s caption states:

“Airmail drag for the win. Yetty Irwan was on fire in last night’s Pro Women’s Singles final, booking a ticket once again to the ACL Pro Shootout Championship.”

Looks like Yetty is going to have multiple opportunities for a championship, and I don’t want to recklessly speculate about who is carrying who in the team of Jones and Irwan, but if I had to, I’d say it’s Yetty.

Good thing Aaron Jones has another thing he’s good at to fall back on if he doesn’t take home the ACL Championship.
