Talk about a honky tonk heartbreaker…

Ernest released another video from his Circle Sessions series a few days ago, which was filmed once again at the Grand Ole Opry, and seeing as ERNEST is a member of the Grand Ole Opry’s Opry NextStage class, it’s the perfect setting.

This time, he sang “What Have I Got To Lose,” which is actually co-written with Dean Dillon and Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley from Ernest’s FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses deluxe record.

The studio cut also features Dean on vocals, who is of course country royalty, and you probably recognize his name from penning countless hits for The King himself, George Strait.

Like I mentioned, the song itself is a good old fashioned honky tonk heartbreaker (a Dean Dillon specialty) about drowning your sorrows away at the bar, as the narrator realizes that, now that his girl is gone, he doesn’t have much else in his life left to lose.

Of the duet, Ern said it was a dream come true to work with Dean and have him on the record:

“A special song on the project for me is ‘What Have I Got To Lose’ with Dean Dillon.

He’s country music royalty, and I grew up on a lot of his songs, so getting to write a song with him was a dream come true.

I took a shot in the dark to see if he wanted to feature on it, and he said yes. He hasn’t featured on very many songs, so to get a Dean Dillon feature is sick.”

Unfortunately, Dean isn’t featured vocally on this live performance video, but it’s still well-worth you time to check out because it’s a great country song.

Actually, it was my favorite out of the entire 24-track deluxe record, and I love it just as much now as I did the first time I heard it:
