I think those Muscadine Bloodline boys are onto something… I mean, who doesn’t love a good Blink-182 song?
On multiple occasions over the past couple of weeks, the Alabama based duo has taken to Instagram to share acoustic covers of some of their favorite pop-punk songs they grew up on. And if you haven’t seen them already, this is must-watch content, so I’m going to go ahead and get into it.

Now whether you want to admit it or not, this type of music defined a generation, and tons of country artists grew up listening to, and still listen to bands like Blink, Green Day, Weezer, etc. I’m an unashamed fan of this stuff myself, so when I see some of my favorite artists throwing it back for a cover, I’m all over it.
And based on the reaction Muscadine Bloodline has received on social media, I think it’s safe to say I’m not alone in this sentiment. Tons of fans and even several other artists are calling for more of these videos, and some have even begun proposing the idea of a cover record. And that’s something I can get behind.
The powerhouse duo is fresh off the February release of their latest album Teenage Dixie, which featured 16 tracks of country music and rock and roll heaters. A frontrunner for top album of the year thus far, Stanton, Muncaster, and crew poured their hearts into this one, but they still never really took a break from releasing content afterwards.
Just recently, they released the spectacular “Blood Feud” short film to go along with their songs “Shootout in Saraland” and “Knife to A Gunfight,” and following its release they went straight into the pop-punk covers on social media. So what’s next? Why not give the fans what they want, and drop a pop-punk cover album?
I’m mostly kidding here, but the response to those videos thus far has been awesome, and it isn’t totally out of the realm of possibility I wouldn’t think. Muscadine Bloodline has become one of the biggest independent bands in the country music industry over the years, and without a label breathing down their necks, they do have the freedom and ability to pull something off like this if they wish to do so.
It wasn’t too long ago that their pal and frequent collaborator, BJ Barham of American Aquarium, put out his two 90’s country cover records Slappers, Bangers, and Certified Twangers, Vol 1 & 2 in 2021, and those were massive hits that did a lot of good for American Aquarium.
So maybe this acoustic, county-tinged pop-punk cover album is the next step here. They could even have a few features on it, like Barham, for example, since he’s been resharing their videos on Instagram or Kody West and Tanner Usrey who commented their stamps of approval as well.
While it’s a longshot for sure, it’s still fun to think about. So for the sake of the idea, I’ve thrown together a potential track list I would like to see, along with some featured artists. What do y’all think?

Maybe they could even come out with a couple of music videos for this, make it like some sort of redneck MTV. Who knows, the possibilities are endless.
But if this concept never comes to fruition, as will likely be the case, that’ll be quite alright, too. I’ll be perfectly content with new original music whenever that time comes, because there are not many out there that do it better than Muscadine Bloodline.
