Oh man, this just got real interesting.
During one of Joe Rogan’s recent podcasts last week, he straight up said that as great of a boxer as Tyson Fury is, he’d stand no chance against MMA legend Jon Jones in a fight:
“No one thinks that Tyson Fury could beat Jon Jones in a fight. No one thinks that. Tyson doesn’t think that. You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet? If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all my chips on black.
Tyson Fury is an amazing boxer, but he doesn’t have a f*cking chance in hell of making it out of that room. Zero chance. You would have to like, catch Jon immediately with one punch, and I just don’t see that happening, man.
When he gets his hands around you you’ll be stunned.”
Needless to say, Fury wasn’t too fond of Rogan’s comments, as he responded with an Instagram post saying:
“I’m the baddest man on the planet. I heard Joe Rogan say something about me the other day and I’ve been off of all social media and didn’t reply to the little Little p*ssy f*cking little m*dget, bald-headed m*dget. I heard him say Jon Jones could f*ck me up if we were in a room together.
I don’t think so. Not a man born from their mother could f*ck me up in a room on our own. Whatever happens in that room, I’ll be walking out, not a f*cking problem.”
Jon responded to Tyson’s rant on Twitter, pointing out the differences between the ring and the cage:
“Hey Tyson, it seem like Joe may have struck a nerve. I’ll admit there’s no one touching you in that ring right now, but let’s not let that confuse you with what would happen if you stepped foot in my cage.
If you ever want to put some of those questions you got going on to rest, give Dana a call. I’ll help you out.”
And what do you know… Fury is now saying that he doesn’t want to fight Jones.
He responded in another social media post, saying:
“I see Jon Jones has piped up. Jon, you talk about me in a cage. I’m not a cagefighter, mate. I’m a boxer – the best boxer actually. So if you want to come into a boxing ring to fight me, be my guest, let me know.
You don’t have to call anybody else – no Dana, nobody. You call me. Because it’s a boxing fight, and I’m the boss in this game. You’re definitely a great fighter, Jon, but you’re definitely no boxer, that’s for sure.”
Needless to say, Jon Jones had a field day with this one:
“Yesterday, Tyson says, ‘no man born from a mother can beat me’, today he says ‘Jon can never beat me in a boxing ring’. Yeah I’m glad we got that clarified. You just switched your beat up faster than Travis Barker, impressive.”
