When you think about two famed actors you’d love to have a beer with, what are some names that come to mind?
Somewhere on that list has to be Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
Maybe it’s because of their laid back personalities, and seem to be some of the most “normal” actors in all of Hollywood.
But speaking of McConaughey and Harrelson, did you know there’s a possibility the two could be brothers?
McConaughey recently made an appearance on SiriusXM’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast with Kelly Ripa, where he shared the hilarious story about how he and Harrelson could be brothers:
“You know, where I start and where he ends, and where he starts and I end, has always been like a murky line. And that’s part of our bromance, right?
My kids call him Uncle Woody, his kids call me Uncle Matthew.”
He then said that their families would get them confused with each other while looking at old pictures, and that’s when McConaughey’s mother made a shocking comment during a trip to Greece.
He recalled:
“We’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families, and my mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’
Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W.”
That’s when he and Harrelson began to take a deep dive, seeing if there’s any possibility that they could actually be brothers.
He said that they:
“We unpacked what this ‘knew’ meant and did some math and found out that his dad was on furlough at the same time that my mom and dad were in their second divorce.
Then, there’s possible receipts and places out in West Texas where there might have been a gathering, or a meeting, or a ‘knew’ moment.”
He also discussed how the two have danced around possibly getting a DNA test, but the situation is very different for the two:
“This is what we’re on the precipice of now, it’s a little easier for Wood to say ‘C’mon, let’s do it,’ what’s the skin in it for him?
It’s a little harder for me because he’s asking me to take a chance to go, ‘Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?'”
Understandable.
If they actually are related, how ironic would it be that they have a fictional TV series in the works about themselves on Apple TV+ called Brother from Another Mother?
That would be the biggest bombshell in 2023 no doubt.
