John Wayne’s Former 2,000-Acre California Ranch Hits The Market For $12 Million

The property formerly owned by John Wayne that recently became available is now looking for the next person to call it home. You may be the perfect candidate if you:

-Have always wanted to own a 2000 acre ranch in California

-Have $12 million dollars to spare

According to Fox Business, the listing site for the Rancho Pavoreal (which means Peacock Ranch in Spanish) reveals that the home spans 3,000 square feet with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and three garages (the triple threat). The property is located halfway in between San Diego and Palm Springs, and the rural, ranch oasis is still only a two hour drive from Los Angeles.

Meaning if you lived at the Peacock Ranch and needed to go to the “City of Angels,” you would very likely be taking the same route John Wayne did when he went to shoot his movies. There’s a good chance Wayne ran through some of his lines from his expansive 165 movie catalogue while at the ranch.

The ranch was built in the 1950’s and housed “The Duke” in the 1970’s. With the vast amount of land with the property, it is reported by Realtor.com that Wayne would invite guests to the property to go horseback riding, target shoot, and many other activities that the great outdoors offers.

The Western Film legend, who passed away in 1979 at the age of 72, called this place his home for many years. A plethora of the activities that Wayne utilized the ranch for are being encouraged on the listing for future owners. The ranch is said to be best suited for equestrian, cattle ranching, and even a shooting range.

The property has also been used in the past as a place for “retreats,” which could be a very good use of the real estate if you weren’t interested in occupying the home yourself. Plus, what better draw for a retreat than “John Wayne used to ride horses and shoot guns here?”

Sounds like a good spot for a Old Western, John Wayne theme park to me.

Too bad the name “Wayne’s World” would probably run into some copyright issues…
