It looks like Sturgill Simpson has been staying busy as a producer these days.

He recently produced Brit Taylor’s Kentucky Blue record, and he’s stepping in once again to produce Miles Miller’s forthcoming debut solo album, Solid Gold.

Raised in central Kentucky, Miller has spent the better part of the past decade on the road as a drummer for artists, including the aforementioned Sturgill Simpson, as well as Town Mountain.

In 2009, fantastic producer Dave Cobb stumbled on Miles’ drum covers on Youtube when he was just 16, though Miles actually got his start playing guitar.

After taking a break from the road more recently, he realized that he wanted to step away from drumming to pursue a career as an artist. Solid Gold will be Miles’ debut as a solo artist, and was recorded over the course of three days in January in Nashville, Tennessee.

Of the record, Miles says:

“Solid Gold is a love story, but about love being around and love leaving.

It’s an entire story essentially about wanting to get back to the love you have, realizing you shouldn’t give it away, to love leaving, hitting the road because of it leaving, feeling love on the road, love from home, to realizing you need to keep walking and wish them well.

It’s an album about the cycle of a love story that crumbles.”

The album will be out everywhere on July 7th.

And this June, Miles will open for the great Tyler Childers on a handful of shows for his Send In The Hounds Tour, with additional tour dates to be announced.
