Montana Knife Company Launches Its First Ever EDC Folder

Josh Smith, founder of Montana Knife Company, has created a legacy in building knives that hunters, ranchers, and chefs trust. Josh earned his expertise in the knife-making world at age 19 by becoming the youngest ever to receive their Master Smith rating from the American Bladesmith Society. Fast forward to 2020, and Smith’s ambition guided him to found a company during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the next 6 years, MKC created some of the most well-known fixed-blade knives, 100% manufactured right here in the USA.

After those highly anticipated 6 years for MKC fans, the company is introducing its first-ever folding knife designed for durability and everyday use. The Montana will be a liner-lock folder coming in at a hair over 7 ½ inches and just under 3 ounces.

MKC Founder and CEO Josh Smith says:

“Five years of scaling our manufacturing right here in Montana made our first folder possible. People will see a liner lock knife that weighs less than three ounces and is engineered to 0.0001 of an inch, built to fit in any pocket and operate without service for years. But what matters most is that THE MONTANA is built to be used and handed down just like every other knife we make.”

I got my hands on one early and it’s an absolute BEAUTY.

At less than 3 ounces, The Montana is super lightweight, but feels rock solid in hand. It’s razor sharp out of the box, and the box itself is actually really impressive… it comes with a specs card, very clear operating and care instructions, and my favorite part… an ownership card. This is the kind of knife that you’re going to want to pass down to your kids, or your grandkids, and the card offers an easy way to log every owner for generations.
