Man, I love Kelly Clarkson.

It is no secret now that Blake Shelton’s time on The Voice is coming to an end. The seasoned coach has spent 22 seasons spinning the chair for vocal talent that catches his ear.

Out of the 22 seasons, he has coached nine artists to victory, making him the most decorated coach on the show.

When season 23 premieres on March 6th of this year, he will leave his legacy to Kelly Clarkson and newbies Niall Horan and Chance the Rapper.

Clarkson has spent quite a few seasons rivaling Shelton, making their relationship competitive but also very playful, like brother and sister.

Both being talented artists, there will always be a little underlying competitive edge as they want to pass along their vocal tips and tricks.

In a recent NBC Insider interview, Clarkson says some very kind words about her counterpart but couldn’t help but throw in a little bit of a playful jab.

“I actually have been talking to Blake a bit about this being his last season. And I’m like, ‘It’s not gonna hit you until afterward. It’s gonna hit you. It’s been a part of your life for so long. And it’s gonna hit you after.

I think he knows that, but I also think he knows that it’s time. He’s been doing it a long time, and I think it’s a really cool way that we all know he’s leaving so we get the time to, like… I mean, I can’t stand him, but I also love him.

So we get the time to actually, like, lift him up and say how great he is. He is the ultimate coach on this show. Everybody knows that.

He’s won the most, and he, honest to God, helps the artists afterwards. And it’s an incredible thing that he’s done for so many artists. It’s a loss for The Voice.”

After the kind words, here comes the zinger:

But it’s a gain for humanity because we get to see less of him. So there’s that.”

Tune in starting March 6th for Blake Shelton’s last season.
