The boys from Castlewood, Virginia are talking about their next record and I am here for it.
49 Winchester had themselves a year in 2022, releasing Fortune Favors The Bold, one of the best albums we’ve heard in awhile (Number 2 on Whiskey Riff 2022 Top 40), making their Grand Ole Opry debut, having their song “Last Call” featured on Yellowstone, and hitting the road on a seemingly never ending tour that’s garnered them a rabid fanbase that grows by the minute.
And they have no plans on stopping anytime soon.
At Greenville Country Music Fest, front-man Isaac Gibson let me know their new album was pretty much all written and they were getting ready to hop in the studio and get to recording it, but a fan-posted video on YouTube gives us a little more detail on what we can expect from the upcoming project.
At a show in Johnson City, TN on December 3rd, Isaac gave a teaser for one of the unreleased songs titled “Hillbilly Happy.”
“We’ve got some big plans for this next song, what we’re going to do with it on the next record. I think there’s going to be a really cool special guest on the recording of this when we get to doing it this spring…”

The band has been around some of the best acts in music over the past few years, opening for Whiskey Myers and Turnpike Troubadours, and Luke Combs wore one of their shirts for a photoshoot, so maybe it’ll be a feature with one of those guys?
Really can’t go wrong, but let’s be honest. The guys know what their doing so there’s no doubt it’s going to be something incredible.
The song itself is another pure honky tonk heater with a quintessential 49 Winchester line that made me smile.
“Been savin’ all my money
Me and my honey gonna take a little trip to unwind
Down to Florabama or a ballgame in Atlanta
Dirty Myrtle might do just fine”
Come on with it, that’s some good stuff. Gotta love the Myrtle Beach shoutout…
