Great news from Cincinnati.

Everybody’s eyes are on Damar Hamlin, the Bills safety who suffered from cardiac arrest in the first quarter during their game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Damar went in to make a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins and collapsed shortly following the play.

Suffering cardiac arrest, team doctors worked immediately to utilize the defibrillator and chest compressions to restart his heart. He was given oxygen and placed in an ambulance to a local Cincinnati trauma center, where he suffered another cardiac arrest and had to be resuscitated once more.

He has been in critical care since he arrived at the hospital, sedated, and put on a ventilator to aid in his breathing.

And earlier today, we learned that Hamlin’s father, Mario Hamlin, met with the entire Buffalo Bills team via virtual meeting, to give an update on his son’s condition.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared:

“Mario Hamlin informed the Bills that Damar was making progress and, in the words of one source, ‘the team needed it.’”

With that being said, we now have some great news on the status of Damar.

He is officially awake, holding hands with family members, he’s responsive… it’s perhaps the best case scenario for him right now.

NBA insider Shams Charania shared to Twitter:

“Amazing news: Buffalo Bills announce Damar Hamlin is neurologically intact. He is showing extremely positive signs toward recovery from critical condition due to cardiac arrest.”

Neurological intact meaning that Damar likely suffered no neurological damage, and could be on the path towards making a full recovery.

It’s absolutely incredible news, considering that Hamlin was on the field for nearly 10 minutes received life-saving medical attention.

Needless to say, we’re all hoping and praying that he’s able to make a full recovery from this horrific situation.
