FINALLY.

The nominations for the 2023 Golden Globes are in, and Kevin Costner earned his long-awaited nomination for his portrayal as Yellowstone patriarch John Dutton on the hit series.

According to CNN, he’s been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama category, going up against Jeff Bridges in The Old Man, Diego Luna in Andor, Bob Odenkirk in Better Call Saul and Adam Scott in Severance.

After five seasons on the hit Paramount series (which is currently airing), it feels like this is long overdue, as Yellowstone is currently the biggest show on TV — and it’s not particularly close.

Costner has previously won two Golden Globe awards for other roles, including 2013 when he won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Motion for Television for his role in Hatfields & McCoys, as well as the award for Best Director – Motion Picture for Dances With Wolves in 1991.

Up until recently, the entire show has been largely ignored by most major awards shows, as it was snubbed from The Emmys this past summer, and has only received nominations at the SAG Awards and HCA Awards.

However, awards ceremonies can’t keep turning a blind eye to the exceptional results the show has seen through its five seasons so far forever, and this nomination feels like a step in the right direction.

At least, it’s a very deserved honor, no matter what ultimately happens at the show.

Yellowstone is also up for a few Critics Choice Awards in 2023, including Best Drama Series, with Kelly Reilly (who plays John’s daughter Beth Dutton) being nominated for Best Actress In A Drama Series.

It seems like Costner has a pretty good chance of winning this award, too, seeing as he anchors the hit show which has completely blown up over the last couple seasons.

Of course, he’s already a Hollywood icon in his own right, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens when the show airs on NBC on January 10th, with comedian Jerrod Carmichael hosting.

I mean, in my mind, the decision is pretty damn clear…

And another thing that deserves an award on this show, aside from the obviously great acting, is the soundtrack.

It’s easily the best on TV, and if you’re looking for the entire Yellowstone soundtrack, complete through all episodes of Season 5, then look no further.
