NFL Insider Believes Tom Brady Could Play For The San Francisco 49ers Next Season

We were all in shock when we learned that Tom Brady would be retiring, stepping away from the game of football forever.

Yes, yes, it was inevitable.

The guy is 44-years-old, has seven Super Bowl rings, and is the greatest statistical quarterback to play the game thus far, and will more than likely remain that way.

Still, most of us grew up watching him obliterate the NFL for practically our whole lives, and it’s gonna be weird not seeing him run out onto the field to lead his team anymore.

However, one NFL insider is still not convinced the man is hanging up the cleats just yet.

NFL insider and analyst Mike Florio, in fact, says he wouldn’t be surprised if he sees Brady reppin’ a San Francisco 49ers uniform next season.

He wrote in ProFootballTalk:

“I think Tom Brady will play for the 49ers in 2022.

I don’t know that he will. I’m not predicting that he will. But I have a feeling that he will. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t. If he does, many will be surprised. I won’t be.

It shouldn’t really surprise anyone. What have we heard over and over regarding Brady’s football career? ‘What more does he have to prove?’ Nothing.

But he has never played for the team he grew up rooting for. And that team, the 49ers, has a Super Bowl-ready roster. Just add quarterback.”

Of course, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers still control the rights of Brady, meaning that the Niners would have to trade for him.

But I’ll go ahead and say it, I’m not convinced this will happen.

Brady seemed pretty straight forward when he announced he was hanging it up for good. Not to mention, it’s the offseason, so analysts and insiders are doing whatever it takes to create an intriguing headline while there’s not much to talk about.

Ya know, the millions of “hot takes” they all love to make for seven months, with maybe one of those takes being correct so they can say “I TOLD YOU SO” when next season rolls around.

Nevertheless, it’s still a cool thought.

Although… according to Bay-area sports talk radio show Willard and Dibbs, Brady has a grudge against the team for not signing him previously and doesn’t want to play there anymore.

Only time will tell…
