Slow news day for a Monday, eh?
Just kidding. Obviously today everybody’s been celebrating the best news that we’ve had in country music in quite awhile, with Turnpike Troubadours announcing (confirming?) their return after dropping hints on their website and social media over the past few days.
It’s been a great day – especially for a Monday.
Social media has been going absolutely insane, all because of one picture:

There have been some great tweets, great memes, and just overall great reactions to the GREAT news. It’s been one of the most fun days on social media in awhile (we told you that Turnpike coming back would fix everything – even the hellhole that is Twitter).
Since it’s been so much fun, we thought we’d take a look at some of the best reactions to the news that Turnpike is BACK.
Just because turnpike is getting back together doesn’t mean you should get back with your ex.

(Found Koe Wetzel’s burner).
Can @TpTroubadours please let us know when they'll be releasing more teasers?
My employer has requested that I schedule time off to follow this story on my own time.#cybermonday

The @TpTroubadours return has been the best cyber Monday deal in history.

The announcement also drew immediate reactions from some of the best in the Texas/red dirt scene:

Welcome back, homies!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 https://t.co/sGtrGmizpc
— American Aquarium (@USAquarium) November 29, 2021
They are the reason 99% of folks in Texas and Oklahoma have ever heard of our band. https://t.co/1FWOJn6OUj

Welcome back, Kings

And lot of the reactions included some not-so-subtle shots at former Oklahoma Sooners coach Lincoln Riley, who bailed on Oklahoma (which also happens to be Turnpike’s home state) to take the head coaching job at USC the day before the band broke their big news.
Lincoln Riley sacrificed the Oklahoma football program in order to get Turnpike back. Mad respect @LincolnRiley

Oklahoma really just sacrificed the entire OU football program to bring The Turnpike Troubadours back.

The only news that could dwarf the Lincoln Riley bombshell up in Oklahoma has happened.
The Turnpike Troubadours reunion.

In the last 24 hours, here in Oklahoma:
We lost our coach and gained back Turnpike Troubadours.
I'd say that was a fair trade.— Sam Cox (@SamCoxMusic) November 29, 2021
Turnpike bass player and songwriter RC Edwards even got in on the Lincoln Riley shit-talking:
Fuck Lincoln Riley. https://t.co/BIt4huGxHb
— RC Edwards (@roostercedwards) November 29, 2021
Turnpike also just shared another cryptic image on their Instagram, one that (fittingly) looks like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

So what does it mean? Is it a new album cover? Or just a metaphor for the band’s triumphant return?
I guess we’ll have to wait and see. But damn if I’m not enjoying all the reactions while we wait.
