12 Country Songs To Remind You To Look Back, Look Around, And Be Thankful This Year

Eric Church, Luke Combs country music

Thanksgiving Week is upon us once again.

It’s time to sit around and stuff your face with the family while trying to avoid politics and keep Aunt Stacy away from that second bottle of wine.

While it’s funny to make jokes about how to handle these family situations (and we have some advice on how to handle your sister’s boyfriend who thinks FGL is country), it really is a perfect time to reflect on our life and all the good in it.

Sure, you can always find things to improve, things that are bad, things that annoy you, but odds are if you take a second and think about it, the good outweighs the bad. Even remembering your grandma or dad who passed away and telling that same story again brings everybody there together in a way that words don’t do justice.

So here’s 12 country songs that will make you smile, cry, laugh and reflect this Thanksgiving.

Montgomery Gentry – Lucky Man

Sometimes you just need to take a step back and realize it’s the small things in life that are bothering you, and all things considered, you have it pretty good.

Dolly Parton – Coat Of Many Colors

So what you don’t have the latest iPhone, best sneakers or a new jacket? Dolly helps you remember that it’s the love things are done with that matters, not the things themselves.

Travis Tritt – It’s A Great Day To Be Alive

I mean, it IS a great day to be alive… even if it isn’t… ya know?

Cody Johnson – Til You Can’t

While it’s great to be thankful for what we have, sometimes we need a reminder to go get the things to be thankful for, whether it’s your forever woman or that fishing trip with Dad.

Eric Church – Those I’ve Loved

It took a lot of people a lot of time to get you where you are today. The Chief takes the time to thank those in his life, make sure you let the people in yours know you truly appreciate them.

Luke Combs – This One’s For You

There is no one more gracious or appreciative than The Entertainer of the Year. Luke has never been afraid to publicly thank those that got him to where he is. I thinks it’s safe to say we all owe a few people a few beers…

Lee Ann Womack – I Hope You Dance

This song gives me chills every single time I hear it. Be thankful for the life you have and don’t be afraid to live it, you only get one.

Ashley McBryde – Luckiest S.O.B

Not all of our luck makes us Ashley McBryde, but we’ve all been fortunate in our own unique ways, you just have to have the right perspective. Plus, this would be a hell of a sing along after 12 Busch Lights with the cousins.

Tim McGraw – I Called Mama

Sometimes it’s not a holiday that makes you stop in your tracks and get what important in order again. When life hits you in the wrong ways, there’s no better person to help get you straight than your mom.

Emerson Drive – Moments

This is easily one of the most underrated songs of all time. Even the worst off among us have had big moments where they were on top of the world. We need to keep that in mind when things aren’t going our way, because the moments we’ve had and will have again are worth living for.

Martina McBride – Blessed

Like the song says, sometimes you got to look around and smile at all the ways you’ve been blessed.

Johnny Cash – Thanksgiving Prayer

And of course, the Man In Black rounds out our list with his Thanksgiving prayer. It’s no secret that Johnny loved June more than anything else in the world, just like we all have that special person in our lives, whether a spouse or grandparent, that we should thanks God for each day.
