Brent Cobb Releases Original Gospel Song, “When It’s My Time,” From Upcoming Gospel Album

Don Van Cleave

I’m convinced Brent Cobb was made to sing gospel music.

He’s gearing up to release his first gospel album, And Now, Let’s Turn To Page…, on January 28th, as well as recently announcing his headlining When It’s My Time Tour.

The new record will include renditions of classic gospel tracks Brent grew up singing in church in Ellaville, Georgia, like “Old Rugged Cross,” as well as some originals like the one we’re getting today.

Written by Brent with his wife, Layne, “When It’s My Time” finds Brent sharing his thoughts on accepting the timing of everything in his life and knowing that when it’s his time to go, that will also be the right time, regardless of anything else.

Those things allow him to find immense peace in God’s plan for his life:

“It ain’t been easy
Going this long
Riding the fine line
Between right and wrong
But I been living I fought tooth and nail
I walked the high road
And given it hell

When it’s my time
I’m gonna go
There is no reason
For me to stay
I did all the damage
That could have been done
I would have been gone anyway”

This project is something he’s always wanted to do, as his faith played such a huge role in shaping the man he is, as well as his career in country music thus far:

“I’ve always wanted to make a southern gospel album because it’s what I come from, but also it used to seem like a rite of passage for country singers to make a gospel album. I’m just trying to carry on that torch.”

Brent previously put out one other tune from the upcoming record, “We Shall Rise”:

And Now, Let’s Turn To Page…. Tracklist:

1. Just A Closer Walk With Thee
2. When It’s My Time
3. In The Garden
4. Are You Washed in the Blood?
5. Softly and Tenderly
6. Old Rugged Cross
7. We Shall Rise
8. Old Country Church
9. Blessed Be The Tie That Binds
