Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson On What It Means To Be A Man: “To Be Accountable”

Talk about some wisdom.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is arguably one of the most respected guys on this planet. He’s definitely one of the most famous, but show me a guy that wouldn’t mind sippin’ a tequila with The Rock and I’ll show you an idiot.

Great actor, and just an all around good dude. Not to mention, SEVERAL people want the man to run for president of the United States.

Any guy on this planet would want a chance to sit down with him, and talk about what it takes to succeed in life.

While we may not ever get that chance, he did sit down for an interview with Vanity Fair, talking about a whole mess of personal topics, but one in particular stuck out to me: What it means to be a man.

When he was asked his point of view of being a man, here’s what he had to say:

“I think what it means to be a man is to be accountable, is to be accountable and stand up to the mistakes you’ve made. It’s okay to f*ck up, it happens to all of us.

And to rip yourself open, be vulnerable, I’ve been there we’ve all been there. Ya know the benefit of doing something like that, is on the other side of that usually is some sort of progress.

It’s also in my opinion, a quality of being a man is doing what you say you’re gonna do, and taking matters into your own hands sometimes.

If you look somebody in the eye, you shake their hand and you give them your word. It’s important to do it, or do your best and see it through.”

Masculinity is always a hot topic, and as guys, we oftentimes feel like we have to put on this tough guy façade and act like everything’s okay, despite how it might be going on the inside. The reality is quite the opposite.

If “The Rock” can open up about his personal battles, anybody can.
