It’s basically Christmas Day for golf fans, as today marks the first round of the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, one of the greatest events in all of sports.

From the tradition to the stellar play of the best pro golfers in the world, you simply can’t put into words the greatness of this tournament.

With golf being on my mind all week, I couldn’t help but think about all of the country music stars who can actually play golf pretty damn well (some of them even competed on the pro level years ago), so I decided to take a deep dive into the vaults, and put together this list.

Lets take a look at country stars who are actually pretty damn good at golf:

Darius Rucker

Darius is an avid golfer, and he’s actually a pretty big name on the PGA Tour, as he’s close friends with Tiger Woods himself. He was even a VIP guest for the U.S. in the 2016 Ryder Cup, and has hosted many golf charity tournaments, along with a college golf tournament in his home state of South Carolina.

He’s no slouch at the sport himself, as he has a 6 handicap.

Kip Moore

Kip grew up around the game his whole childhood, as his dad was a golf pro in his hometown of Tifton, Georgia. He was a star athlete growing up, playing golf, baseball, and basketball. He even attended Valdosta State on a golf scholarship for a period of time. Of course, playing music became the number one passion, and I’d say he made the right decision.

Jake Owen

Owen was a huge golfer as a kid, and had dreams of playing on the PGA Tour as a youngin’. He even won his first ever golf tournament at the age of 15. However, a wakeboarding accident caused forced him to take time away from the sport, which ultimately got him into country music.

He still is a huge fan of the sport today, plays regularly, and even hosts an annual charity golf tournament in his home town of Vero Beach, Florida. He even competed in a Web.com tour event in Nashville back in 2018, so I guess you could say he got the chance to live out both of his dreams.

Charles Kelley, Lady A

Kelley was also a star junior golfer back when he was a kid. According to Golf Digest, at the age of 10 he won the Future Masters, and at age 11, won the North & South Championship. He started getting into music at the age of 12, and his focus began to shift. He’s played in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am multiple times, and can still play pretty well now, as he boasts a 5-handicap. He also plays a lot of golf with Jake Owen and Darius Rucker.

HARDY

Now, I didn’t even know HARDY was an avid golfer but the truth is, the man can play. He recently even hit a hole in one.

Vince Gill

Now I was surprised at this one as well. Gill is arguably the best one-two punch in country music, with his incredible voice range and his out of this world guitar playing abilities. On top of that, he can play some damn golf. He’s a scratch golfer, and competed in the sport all throughout high school in Oklahoma. He also admits he plays just about everyday.

Colt Ford

Believe it or not, the country singer/rapper actually used to be a pro-golfer back in the ’90s. He competed in the 1995 South Carolina Classic, and missed the cut by only two shots. He can still play pretty damn well today, as he’s a 2-handicap, and has now competed on the PGA Champions Tour.

He’s even stated in an interview with pgatour.com that he shot 66 at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Sheesh, you won’t catch me trying to play that guy for money.

Eric Church

Chief has been on the golf course a lot lately, even attending the British Open last year for a round with John Daly, Peyton Manning, and Eli Manning at the iconic St. Andrews in Fife, Scotland. He also played at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this year.

But just this past week, Chief won the first ever Road to The Masters Invitational.

Ok, ok… that was a video game…
