Eric turned 43 today, and whether you’ve been a fan of Whiskey Riff from the beginning or even if you’re fairly new to what we do here, you know how much we love everything this dude does. In my mind, he’s the best there is.
But rather than me singing his praises for the millionth time, or showing you a couple random songs, why not celebrate his birthday with a word from some of the biggest stars in country music.
This video came out this past fall, right after Eric’s “Some Of It” and “Round Here Buzz” went number one, and features everybody from Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, to Luke Combs, Jon Pardi and more sharing what Eric’s music has meant to them.
Even if Eric decided to call it quits tomorrow, he’d go down as one of, if not THE, most influential artists of the past 20 years, and it’s safe to say that his legendary status is already firmly cemented in place. And just in case anybody was worried about Eric hanging it up, that’s not gonna happen:
“That was one of the coolest things – no, that’s about the coolest thing I’ve been a part of… My intention was always just to try to make great music, write great songs. And to see it matter is really something… But I will say this after seeing the video; I’m not done. I’m not retiring. I’m not dying…I look forward to kicking their asses every night on stage.”
