“Mötley Crüe Didn’t Have S*** On Us” – Tracy Lawrence Says He Could End Careers With Some Of His Wild Stories From The ’90s

Tracy Lawrence

Tracy Lawrence isn’t going to spill career-ending tea about any ’90s country stars… but he does want you to know that he could if he wanted to.

The “Paint Me A Birmingham” singer recently had Wheeler Walker Jr. on his podcast – TL’s Road House – and as you might imagine, some of the topics touched on tilted towards the shocking side. At one point, the country singer who just recently released his Pullin’ Out album turned the interview around on Lawrence, and threw out this phenomenal question:

“I have a theory that the country dudes are wilder than the rock and roll guys. My question for you is, do you agree with me?

Maybe Wheeler Walker Jr. should start his own podcast?

Tracy Lawrence didn’t shy away from answering it, and quickly shot back with a statement saying that, prior to social media’s existence, he and his 90s country star counterparts were living on the wild side. He firmly believes the country scene was crazier than the well documented rock and roll world:

“I believe that’s a very true statement for a lot of us from the 90s. Before social media, we were wild as hell. I saw the documentary about the dirt on Motley Crue. They didn’t have sh*t on us.”

Yeah, we need that ’90s country star documentary pronto.

If you thought the first question Walker Jr. – known for his hits like “F*** This Job” and “Drop ‘Em Out” – threw out there, his follow up was just as good. He asked Lawrence if he could end careers if he wanted to, and the country star didn’t hesitate in saying yes:

“Absolutely, and I say all the time, when people say, ‘You need to write a book,’ because I’ve got a lot of stories, I’m like, ‘I gotta wait for a lot more people to die first. I say that in jest, but yes (I could end careers)… we had so much fun back in the 90s. It was wild.”

I know he’s saying he’s not going to share the stories… but now that I know they exist, I really wish he would.

Like Lawrence touched on, there are plenty of reasons not to share the dirt that he has on country stars. He’s built up his impressive career to this point, and has a loving family, and doesn’t want to hurt his own reputation by sharing stories that he and probably a couple of other 90s star have in their arsenal.

“I wouldn’t tell those stories because my wife and I have been together for 27 years. I’ve got two beautiful kids. I wouldn’t go down that road at this stage in my career because it would have such an effect on everyone. But I could.”

Love that “but I could” right at the end.

Leave it to Wheeler Walker Jr. to bring some chaos to an interview. He did the same with us when he stopped by the Whiskey Riff Raff podcast. If Lawrence does ever spill the beans, hopefully he invited Walker Jr. back to relish in the moment – and ask some more great questions.
