As great as their relationship seemed to be at the time, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s marriage just wasn’t written in the stars.
When it comes to celebrity breakups, the 7-time Super Bowl winner had quite the public split from his supermodel ex-wife back in 2022. That’s to be expected, since they were two high-profile individuals, and the media machine is always needing stories to churn out. And I’d be remiss if I also didn’t mention the other story that revealed itself around the divorce… the relationship that Gisele had with her jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.
She now has a baby with that very jiu-jitsu instructor.
All reports say that despite that ugly end, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen were doing their best to stay cordial for the sake of their children. The former celebrity couple have two kids – Benjamin and Vivian – and Brady has another son named Jack (from a previous relationship with Bridget Moynahan). They spent 13 years together, and built quite the life with one another… and then it all went to the wayside in a matter of months.
There’s always been questions about how and why things ended between Brady and Bündchen. Obviously, the whole jiu-jitsu instructor thing took most of the blame… as well as Tom’s desire to keep playing football and Gisele wanting him to retire.
But now, thanks to a new biography on Tom Brady – titled Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness – there’s a theory that Gisele finally ended things with her NFL football playing husband because… their astrology signs didn’t match up. You can’t make it up…
As crazy as that sounds, it could help to explain the suddenness of their split. You might remember that Tom had retired, only to change his mind and suit back up the following year for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was during the training camp period in August that Gisele decided to cut things off, and it was pretty widely reported that she was unhappy with him running it back for a final season. He even left camp at one point to try and save his marriage.
However, the author of this new biography, Lars Anderson, says that an eyewitness claims Bündchen’s horoscope was the final nail in the coffin.
“Then one day, Gisele, who is really into astrology, basically looked into the stars and told Tom, ‘We’re not compatible.’ And just like that, she was done.”
Once again, it was pretty widely reported that Gisele wanted him to retire and that really contributed to her resentment towards their marriage, but can you imagine a made-up horoscope being what really drove it home? 13 years together, multiple children and she tells you that your not compatible anymore because of your moon sign? Good Lord, man…
The book also lays out that Brady felt blindsided by the decision, and the former QB thought that his wife was happy prior to her asking for a divorce.
And the smoking gun to back this up? Like I mentioned earlier, Author Lars Anderson points towards the horoscope that was interestingly included in Cosmopolitan. It stated that in August, which is the month that Tom Brady was born, Cancers – like Bündchen – would need to brace for a major shift:
“Honest, raw conversations will be necessary as power struggles and hidden agendas are exposed. This is your opportunity to transform the dynamics in your closest ties.”
Anderson basically concluded that Tom and Gisele’s marriage did not break down in a way that is typical for marriages. It was sudden and abrupt, and made him question whether or not a spiritual adviser of Bündchen’s was pointing her to look at the stars… so that she could move on from her husband of 13 years.
Yikes…
