What is wrong with people?
By now I’m sure you’ve heard about the disturbing incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner when a crazed gunman rushed by security in an apparent attempt to target President Donald Trump and members of his administration.
The annual dinner was taking place at the Washington Hilton, which also happens to be the same hotel where President Ronald Reagan was the target of an assassination attempt back in 1981. And many expressed concerns about the security at the hotel, which apparently was only screening guests with metal detectors outside of the ballroom and not when entering the hotel.
The suspect in last night’s attack has been identified as 31-year old Cole Tomas Allen from Torrance, California, a mechanical engineer and video game developer who also worked part time as a teacher. Allen was reportedly a guest at the hotel, and had reportedly assembled the gun inside the hotel before rushing the security checkpoint.
Allen exchanged gunfire with Secret Service, hitting one agent in his bulletproof vest before being taken down and arrested.
Last night, President Trump posted security camera footage of the incident, which showed Allen running past the metal detectors:
Authorities executed search warrants at his California home last night, and reportedly discovered a manifesto stating that he planned on targeting Trump administration officials. Allen had also posted anti-Trump and anti-Christian rhetoric on social media, and at least one of his family members had reportedly alerted authorities about him prior to the shooting.
Of course this is just the latest in what is unfortunately a long line of attempts on President Trump’s life, a disturbing trend that even Democrat officials are strongly condemning:
One Wisconsin brewery, however, is only upset that it wasn’t a success.
A disgustingly vile post from Minocqua Brewing Company, which has a standing offer of free beer to customers on the day that Trump passes away, celebrated the attempt on the president’s life:
“Well, we almost got #freebeerday. Either a brother or sister in the Resistance needs to work on their marksmanship or he faked another assassination to get a positive news cycle.
We’ll never know.
Regardless, we stand at the ready to pour free beer the day it happens.”
And even more disturbing, many of the comments seem to support this kind of trash. I’m not going to repost them, but you can go check it out for yourself.
The brewery is owned by Kirk Bangstad, a failed Democrat candidate for state office who was arrested last year and ultimately ended up pleading guilty to disorderly conduct. He’s also been charged with criminal defamation in the past, and in 2024 lost a defamation lawsuit brought by the publisher of a Minocqua lawsuit and ended up settling for $580,000. He also runs a Minocqua Brewing Company Super PAC to advocate for liberal political causes.
A real winner, clearly.
It should go without saying that this type of rhetoric should be completely unacceptable and universally condemned, regardless of which party you identify with. Everybody talks about the need to turn down the political temperature, but then you have psychos like Bangstad and his company openly advocating and cheering political violence.
What a sad, disgusting person. And the fact that people are still patronizing his business only shows how far we’ve fallen as a society.
