“Boys Took A Beating On That One”: French Skier Goes Mega Viral (Again) For Legendary Super-G Gate Mishap

Olympics

Is it really the Winter Olympics if this video isn’t going viral? During any major sporting event, it always feels like there is one particular video that resurfaces each year to get folks into the mood. For the Winter Olympics, there are plenty of viral clips that resurface each year, reminding fans of the awesome, awkward, or sometimes painful moments that can occur while you compete.

Some that pop into mind are Gabby Douglas or Simone Biles throwing down in the gymnastics arena, Michael Phillips dominating in the field, or most recently, any compilation of Snoop Dogg at the Olympics will do insane numbers online.

Every four years, during the Winter Olympic Games, a clip always resurfaces reminding folks that sometimes, in moments of extreme pain, all you can do is laugh. French skier Yannick Bertrand might not be competing at the Milano Cortina Games, but his 2007 World Cup appearance always makes a run online during this time. Ironic that a World Cup clip goes viral during the Olympics, right? But no matter where this unfortunate event took place, it lives forever online as fans relive Bertrand’s painful incident during the Super-G event during these games.

After coming out of the gate, Bertrand looks strong on the course as he flies over the snow, but around one of the bends he hits one of the flags, in one of the most painful spots for a man… Picking up what I’m putting down?

Right after Bertrand takes out the gate, you hear him yelp, and you can also hear what sounds like a whimper from the commentators, sympathizing with his pain before they chime in on what just unfolded.

“Oh, the gate to the groin for Yannick Bertrand, and you could hear it. And if you’re a man, you can feel it. Wow, watch this again. Oh, the Frenchman! Oh monsieur! Wow, the boys took a beating on that one.”

In less than 24 hours since the clip has resurfaced on X, it’s gained a staggering 3.8 million views, and counting, with countless responses and quotes. Needless to say, this Frenchman’s pain is one that will live in infamy.

While I am sure that he was devastated while fighting the pain in 2007, I hope he gets a chuckle out of seeing this clip resurface every four years.
